May Veggie Home Express, Bangkok serves fresh homemade style Thai food. They have a few other options like burgers and wraps but clearly their speciality is Thai cuisine. They also have Jain and Gluten food options available. It has a simple vibe with air-conditioning and is located on 2nd floor (They dont have a concept of Ground floor here. First floor is what in India we consider as Ground floor typically) of an old school type Plaza building in Sukhumvit 23. The signage shown below is a bit confusing as the actual restaurant is not directly above it. It is actually located on the other side of the plaza.

We started with a simple Iced Latte made using oat milk. It came with very less sugar so we had to ask for some extra sugar to make it to our taste. It was a very nice and refreshing drink.

The dumplings were excellent! These were some of the best dumplings we have had on our travels. The mock pork filling was full of flavour and oh so convincing! This is one of those “you’d not believe it if you didn’t know” moments. The dipping sauce was a ginger infused sweet soy sauce which paired wonderfully with the dumplings.

The Pad Thai was excellent. They had an add-on of extra veggies which we obviously went for! It was served with the works – chilli powder, salt, sugar, crushed peanuts, soy sauce & pickled chilis! And because Thai food is already so well balanced, we didn’t need any of it. We only used the peanuts because, of-course. The protein came from fried tofu which had soaked in quite a bit of the sauce. The veggies, noodles and sauce were also all very good.

The BBQ wrap was very good but we were spoiled by the high standards of the previous 2 items. The mock meat was very tasty but unusual as well. It felt like a dehydrated pork that was also fried? It was a chewy, crispy umami explosion, but it ended up feeling a bit too chewy. The mock meat was coated with a BBQ sauce which felt overly sweet and lacked spice or smokiness. But the wrap came with an abundance of glorious Thai produce. In theory, this dish had the makings of something exceptional, but the chewy mock meat and the unbalanced sauce let the dish down. Still, a very good wrap.
